While it’s taken over a decade for the first few projects to get moving along the Far West Side, both Hudson Yards and Manhattan West are now well underway, with the concrete for 10 Hudson Yards having topped-out just last week. Now, we have an update from Tectonic with photos of 3 Manhattan West. Completion is slightly further out at the future residential tower, but the building is rapidly rising into the Midtown skyline, and cladding installation now underway.
In December 2014, YIMBY noticed excavation beginning at 401 West 31st Street, in Midtown West, where Brookfield Properties is developing a 64-story, 790-unit residential building, featuring 3,440 square feet of retail space; now the building is a floor above street level, per Curbed. The building will measure a total 756,700 square feet, and SOM is designing, while SLCE is serving as the architect of record. Completion of the tower is expected in Summer 2017.
Real Estate Weekly watched crews install the first few panels of the glassy curtain wall going in at Manhattan West‘s 450 West 33rd Street, the 16-story, 1.8-million square-foot behemoth located near Penn Station, which Brookfield Properties is renovating top-to-bottom. The transformation is costing $200 million, and this past November, the Wall Street Journal reported that JP Morgan Chase signed a 123,000 square-foot lease for one of the floors. REX Associates is designing, and completion is expected in 2016.
The Real Deal reports that law firm Skadden has signed a 20-year lease for 550,000 square feet at Brookfield Property Partners’ 1 Manhattan West, located at 401 9th Avenue, on the West Side. Construction will begin immediately on the 69-story, 2.1-million square-foot office tower, and opening is scheduled for 2019.
