Construction is progressing on an 11-story Moxy Hotel at 353 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The topped-out reinforced concrete structure is being built by Leeding Builders Group, LLC, designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects, and developed by The Lightstone Group and Marriott. The edifice will yield a total of 216 hotel rooms with interiors designed by Basile Studios. 353 Bedford Avenue is located between 4th and 5th Streets and is a short walk to the East River waterfront and the Domino Park esplanade.

The building massing is simple and consists of two blocks with the taller volume taking up the northern half of the property. So far about half of the main western exterior is clad in red brick, while the installation of the floor-to-ceiling windows has yet to begin. Scaffolding rigs on the blank southern wall facing the Williamsburg Bridge were painting the flat surface after putting on a thin yellow waterproof membrane that can still be seen on the eastern façade between the grid of square openings.

The Moxy Hotel will feature a ground-floor cafe and restaurant, a cocktail lounge, touchless check-in, co-working spaces with two adjoining meetings studios, and a fitness center. There will also be an indoor-outdoor rooftop terrace with expansive views of the neighborhood, the Williamsburg Bridge, and the Lower Manhattan and Midtown skylines.

The nearest subway access is at the elevated Marcy Avenue stop to the southeast, servicing the J, M, and Z lines. 353 Bedford Avenue is being built in tangent with Moxy Hotel’s other property at 145 Bowery in the Lower East Side, both of which are designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and developed by The Lightstone Group. Michaelis Boyd is designing the guestrooms, lobby, cocktail bar, and lush rooftop bar, while Rockwell Group is designing the restaurant and underground lounge for the upcoming Manhattan location. These two properties will soon join New York City’s three other Moxy Hotels in Times Square, Chelsea, and the East Village.

353 Bedford Avenue is expected to open next year.
