The Plainfield Planning Board has unanimously approved plans for 314-322 East 4th Street, a six-story apartment complex in Plainfield, New Jersey. Designed by Taylor Architecture & Design, the structure will yield 68 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts. The project will also include ground-floor commercial space, 51 on-site parking spots, including eight EV charging stations, 11 mechanical parking spaces, and ADA-compliant van-accessible stalls. The property is located on an interior lot by the corner of East 4th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
The rendering shows the building beginning with a podium clad in beige stone with floor-to-ceiling windows for the retail frontage. Floors two through five will have a black brick façade surrounding oversized windows and three columns of pocketed balconies. A setback at the sixth story will be lined with a glass railing for a terrace, and the final level and bulkhead will be enclosed in gray paneling.
The site is currently occupied by an expansive vacant lot.
The project will be built within the East Third and Richmond Street Redevelopment Plan, which was established to incentivize new mixed-use developments for the town. The property is located northeast of the Plainfield NJ Transit station.
A construction timeline for 314-322 East 4th Street has yet to be announced.
