The affordable housing lottery has launched for Willets Point Commons, a new 100-percent affordable residential development at 126–43 Willets Point Boulevard in Willets Point, Queens. Developed by Queens Development Group (QDG), a joint venture between Related Companies and Sterling Equities, the project comprises 880 apartments across the first two buildings of the larger Willets Point redevelopment being constructed adjacent to Citi Field.
The lottery includes studios through three-bedroom units available to households earning between 30 and 120 percent of area median income. Set-asides include 20 percent of apartments for Queens Community Board 7 residents, 10 percent for veterans and/or NYC municipal employees, as well as units reserved for mobility, visual, and hearing accessibility needs. The apartments are located within the first phase of what is planned as the city’s largest all-affordable housing development in 40 years.
Willets Point Commons will feature a range of on-site amenities, including courtyards, tenant lounges, outdoor terraces, a community garden, fitness center, children’s playroom, coworking space, and ground-floor retail. The buildings are designed to be all-electric, are targeting LEED Gold certification, and will comply with Local Law 97 through high-performance building systems and energy-efficient design. Both buildings will be managed by Related Management Company.
The development is located near the 7 train and Long Island Rail Road at the Mets–Willets Point station.

These went up rather quickly given the swampy character of Flushing Meadows. The rendering seems to show Willets Point Boulevard closed to traffic. That might be inconvenient for deliveries, etc. The buildings are not beauties, but they will provide needed housing. I hope the roar of planes from LGA and the rumble of the #7 train do not keep people up at night. The area is currently very isolated from shopping.
Isolated from shopping? There’s a huge mall with a supermarket and BJ’s just down the road
I thought the same thing for a new development the buildings are not beautiful just a housing project with a small touch of modernity. Also, no sense of a new community.
Where will the parking be for CitiField? No one has addressed that yet.
The Citi Field parking is west of the stadium. The apartments were built on the site of Wild West looking auto parts shops and was never parking. At one point. Flushing had the highest car theft rate in the city and this location was suspect.
Congratulations! You will live near a Casino with hundreds of degenerate & broke gamblers whowill be walking around at all times of day near your building.
Apparently, there is some agreement with the US Open people concerning first rights over the parking lot casino site. A lawsuit is likely.
