Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 5622 14th Avenue in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Located between 56th Street and 57th Street, the lot is near the 55th Street subway station, served by the D train. Joseph Inzlicht of Park is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 65-foot-tall development will yield 23,611 square feet, with 18,008 square feet designated for residential space and 5,603 square feet for commercial space to be used for a day care center. The building will have ten residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,800 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, a rooftop terrace, and a 20-foot-long side yard.
Oleg Ruditser of Engineering Professional Service is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed this month for the residential building on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

I am very pleased to read this news but I hope people of all nationalities will get the opportunity to get to live in this new facility once it is built. I also wish that the rent will be reasonable so the middle class people can afford to live there. I live in this Borough Park area most of my life. I wish I could get the opportunity to live in this residential building.
I agree with your assessment.
If you read the article correctly, it says it will be a condo building.
Which means it will be sold as private apartments. NOT rentals as you’re hoping for.
Memo to Able Roy:
Slim to none chance a cross section of the human family will be residing in that building.
This will have no impact on rent prices and will just benefit the elected officials who pretend to actually do something and the friends they pay to build it. Reality is you can’t make NYC cheaper.

Wasn’t The American Dream to Own their Own Home? Now The American Dream is to Rent their Own Apartment!
The funny thing is this house probably has a lot more historic significance than those houses all the NIMBYs are whining about near Westminster. Thankfully for Boro Park they are willing to actually build newer denser housing options.
