Construction is steadily rising on 101 East 122nd Street, a 13-story mixed-use building in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by GF55 Architects and developed by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the 124-foot-tall structure will span 45,778 square feet and yield 47 rental units with an average scope of 754 square feet. The project will also include 10,336 square feet for community facility space. Las Raices East Harlem LLC is listed as the owner of the property, which is located at the intersection of East 122nd Street and Park Avenue.
The reinforced concrete superstructure currently stands ten stories, and crews have begun to frame out the lower levels with metal studs and yellow insulation boards as construction continues to rise. Façade installation has yet to commence, but could begin as soon given the preparations underway on the bottom stories. The hoist is attached to the western end of the southern elevation along East 122nd Street.
The following aerial perspective shows the building’s context within the surrounding East Harlem neighborhood. YIMBY expects construction to top out before the end of summer.
No finalized renderings have been revealed apart from the below preliminary elevation diagram from the construction board. The façade is shown composed of gray brick surrounding a grid of tall rectangular windows, with broader stretches of floor-to-ceiling glass enclosing the bottom three stories. A green wall is depicted covering the first three levels toward the eastern end of the main elevation, and the structure culminates in a flat roof deck with a bulkhead.
The property was formerly vacant, as seen in the following Google Street View image from before the start of excavation.
The nearest subways from the development are the 4, 5, and 6 trains at the 125th Street station along Lexington Avenue.
101 East 122nd Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for November 2026, as noted on site.
