The Hudson Companies has secured $135 million in financing for 975 Nostrand Avenue, a nine-story mixed-use building in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by ODA Architecture, the structure is planned to yield 328 residential units, with 30 percent reserved for affordable housing, as well as a ground-floor grocery store and community facility. The property is located by the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Sullivan Place, and is currently occupied by a one-story supermarket.

The main rendering shows the building clad in a rust-colored façade surrounding an irregular grid of floor-to-ceiling windows. A column of balconies with glass railings is positioned in the center of the main elevation, and the upper levels feature numerous setbacks that will be topped with terraces.

Amenities are slated to include a fitness center, yoga room, karaoke and game rooms, a media lounge, and a library. Beyond that, residents will have access to outdoor recreational areas, including a landscaped courtyard and community gardens.

975 Nostrand Avenue is aiming for LEED Gold and EnergyStar certifications. It plans to incorporate solar panels and to participate in the ConEd Clean Heat program, reflecting Hudson’s dedication to environmental responsibility. The property is centrally located in Crown Heights, a short walk from the Sterling Street subway station, which serves the 2 and 5 trains.

“At Hudson, we are committed to building quality homes for all residents across the city,” said Marlee Busching-Truscott, managing director of development at Hudson Companies. “We’re thrilled to deliver 328 new apartments, a modern space for a beloved neighborhood supermarket, a community facility, and retail space right in the heart of Crown Heights.”

The project has a target completion date of fall 2025.

  1. Every day on which we replace a one-story commercial building with a large residential building with first-floor retail is a good day.

    • Yes. I cannot a piece of crap like that lasted as long as it did, but maybe a good thing that it did as a replacement 10,15,20 years ago would have likely been painfully lame. I love seeing really good architecture everywhere but it lifts the spirit to see it sprouting in long neglected central BK neighborhoods. Now if East Flatbush could receive some love as it’s currently being walloped by tacky cheap trash piles.,

  2. Crownheights getting alot of buildings, and which the apartments the majority of them are not truly affordable at all
