One Domino Square Tops Out at 346 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The 13th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is One Domino Square, a residential complex with two towers standing 574 and 472 feet tall at 346 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Selldorf Architects and developed by Two Trees, the 57- and 39-story structures will yield 600 units with both condominium and rental apartments. 346 Kent Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is known as Site D in the Domino Sugar waterfront master plan from SHoP Architects and James Corner Field Operations and is bound by the former Domino Sugar Refinery at 292 Kent Avenue to the north, Kent Avenue to the east, and River Street and Domino Park to the west.

Construction has topped out on both towers since our last update in early August, when the reinforced concrete superstructures were closing in on their final stories. Recent photos show the architecturally identical façades of iridescent porcelain paneling and floor-to-ceiling windows enclosing the entirety of the shorter tower and nearing the parapet of the taller sibling. Above the parapets, the buildings transition to glass enclosures, which will be surrounded by landscaped terraces, and culminate in mechanical extensions that are in the process of being clad in gray paneling.

The following renderings preview the final appearance of One Domino Square. The multi-story podium will feature a green roof with a swimming pool, and the property will be surrounded by new tree-lined sidewalks.

  1. These are potentially the ugliest buildings in the city, but I’m so, so glad they exist. BUILD, BABY BUILD!

  2. Stacked sugar cubes!

That’s shape is popular forever on the skyscraper, porcelain paneling so very nice and prominent will complete by them: Thanks to Michael Young.

  3. Love the first few photos with the Williamsburg Bridge

  4. The only building that draws my attention is the original “factory” building with the glass barrel vault addition@

The best part of this development will be those fortunate tenants with waterfront views of Manhattan!

The East River waterfront transformation in just a few years is really quite amazing.

  6. Yes. Hopefully these riverside developers will not be allowed to prohibit the public from waterfront access.

    • There are laws that require public access to all new waterfront development in NYC, including communities in North Jersey along the Hudson. So these developments are improvements that everyone can enjoy.

The waterfront park was completed before the development was finished. You should go visit, as it’s a really nice public space.
