Utterly stupid, but typical of a city entrenched in greed and governmental indifference.

  2. so sad that this building will be demolished for what?
    GREED GREED GREED
    THIS BUILDING SHOULD BE LANDMARKED!
So Sad another piece of NYC history being destroyed.

  3. 20 families losing their homes and 3 businesses demolished for GREED BY THIS DEVELOPER.
    SO SAD

    • How do you know it won’t be replaced with double the residences and three spots for restaurants?

      • how do you know it will?
Want to bet who is right, me or you ?
        I’ll go for a 1,000 bucks

        • I got my money on DougCosbie because it’s very clear that Guesser is clueless about economics and property develpment. I will add that “Guesser” is a wise choice for a handle. It says it all.

          • What you call economics is basically PURE GREED .
Since you are an expert why don’t you school me and explain WTF economics and property management has to do with demolishing a building that is over a hundred years old , in perfect condition, is fully occupied, should be landmarked and could easily be repurposed as part of the new development.
            I’m waiting

The C of O states it is an “old Law” building and thus prior to 1901. It really does not look like mid-1920s.

This is a strange thing to do – the building is occupied and there is a very large parking lot next door, which perfect for that development site to buy the air rights from the Broome Street building. Is this being done to enlarge the parking lot/development site?

  6. It better be good to replace this solid old building
