Façade installation is nearing completion on 58 Saint Marks Place, a 12-story residential building in Boerum HillBrooklyn. Designed by INC Architecture & Design with Issac & Stern as the architect of record, and developed by Avdoo & Partners, the long rectangular structure will yield 100 units. LIC Corporation is the general contractor for the project, which spans nearly the the full length of the block bound by Fourth Avenue to the east, St. Mark’s Place to the north, and Willie McDonald Way to the south.

Since our last update in July, all of the white terra-cotta façade panels have been installed, the scaffolding and netting has been removed from the upper levels, and the construction elevator has been dismantled from the southwestern elevation.

Photos of 58 Saint Mark’s Place from Fourth Avenue detail the various geometries of the rectangular windows and pocketed terraces. Many of the larger floor-to-ceiling windows are found on the top half of the reinforced concrete superstructure, and will provide occupants with vistas of Boerum Hill, the Downtown Brooklyn skyline to the west, and the adjacent neighborhoods of Gowanus and Park Slope.

    Very 70s governmenty.

  2. Wow. I wonder how many tubes of caulk went into all those joints?

  3. i watched this being built from scratch.
It might look ok but its nothing but Cinder blocks and some strings holding it together.
There was no concrete structure at all.
I guarantee leaks and lawsuits to follow.
These rich people are getting fooled

    • Concrete blocks are often used as structural material for shorter buildings – it’s common practice and there is nothing wrong with it.

      • no steel structure or cement used just cheap cinder blocks. Also non union workers built this.
I literally saw them unloading the workers from a van one day. They obviously picked them off the street corners to work on this building.
A disaster waiting to happen and they’re selling them for a Million bucks and more.

That is considered a piece of crap foundation.
These rich people are getting suckered big time.
The leaks will start when the next big rain comes.
        I guarantee it.

      • there will be sidewalk sheds going up after this opens as the building starts to fall apart, just like the ret of the crap buildings on 4th ave.
A year after they are built the condo owners sue for damages and the sidewalk sheds go up.
Take a drive down 4th ave and see for yourself

  4. Awful. It would take 1/2 hr. to walk past it
