Work is nearing completion on the RIU Plaza Hotel, a 48-story tower at 145 West 47th Street in Times Square. Designed by Berg + Moss Architects and developed by Tribeach Holdings, the 353,000-square-foot reinforced concrete edifice stands between Sixth and Seventh Avenues and will soon open its 630 rooms to guests. Transom Builders Group is the general contractor for the building.

Since our last update in April, the remainder of façade work has all but concluded on the tower and podium, which now bears a large advertisement for the property. The main area awaiting completion is the ground floor, which is in the process of wrapping up.

Photos taken through the construction fence show the main entrance shaping up with most of its floor-to-ceiling glass installed and a black metal-framed canopy protruding above the front doors. The glass panels for the canopy have yet to be put in place, though that should occur very soon.

A sliver on the western profile also awaits its final cladding as finishing touches are underway on the mechanical levels below the flat roof parapet.

YIMBY last reported that the podium is expected to house a multi-story parking garage and a restaurant on the upper levels before the structure sets back from the sidewalk. Hotel rooms will start on the seventh floor, with each floor yielding around 17 rooms. The majority of windows cover the northern and southern walls with small vertical strips on the eastern and western sides that are likely for the hallways coming off the elevators.

A revised completion date for the RIU Plaza Hotel has not been announced since it was pushed back from its original target of last winter. YIMBY predicts the RIU Plaza Hotel will open for business by the end of this year.
