Permits have been filed for a seven-story community facility building at 1240 39th Street in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Located between 12th Avenue and 13th Avenue, the interior lot is near both the 9th Avenue subway station, serviced by the D train and the Church Avenue station, serviced by the F and G trains. Zvi Ortner under the Ortegro Realty 1224 LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 75-foot-tall development will yield 20,836 square feet, with 17,183 square feet designated for community facility space. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and a 30-foot-long rear yard.

Brooklyn-based Asher Hershkowitz Architect PLLC is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in December 2018 and the lot is now vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This was my home from 1946 to 1969! I can’t believe they tore this down and will build a 7 story building.
