Second Development Services has filed applications for a two-story, 33-foot-tall retail building spanning the vacant lots at 232-240 Smith Street, in northern Carroll Gardens. The building will have 10,000 square feet of commercial space, and OCV Architects is the architect of record. The site’s former single-story retail structure was demolished in 2007.

  1. I have always thought of Smith Street as Boerum Hill’s commercial strip and Court Street belongs to Cobble Hill and Carrol Gardens. It was the case when it was bodega, social clubs and notions shops. When the bistros and cool kids moved in it looses its Boerum Hill landmark. Although it was a simpler when we were all Brooklyn South I think Smith Street will always be Boerum Hill

  2. well — this project finally began last week with some digging. (and to eugene —Boerum hill only goes as far south as Warren St.)
