A new residential building is rising on the corner of Broadway and 77th Street on the Upper West Side. Dubbed ‘The Larstrand’ by its developers, Friedland Properties and Rose Associates, the tower will rise to 20-stories and contain retail along its base. The entire project will contain roughly 200,000 square feet of space, and a total of 180 residential units.
The New York Times has a rendering of the completed project, which will also apparently be home to a 10,000 square foot CVS (besides other shops). The project’s actual address is 277 West 77th Street.

For that stretch of Broadway on the UWS, I would have definitely preferred a more traditional design, one that mirrored the Laureate, a gorgeous addition.

I think this will come out looking fairly traditional, though the Laureate is certainly the gold standard. Will snap some more photos soon!
