Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center’s Steel Structure Continues Formation in the Financial District

The cubic structure of the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center is taking shape at the World Trade Center complex in the Financial District. The site has seen a tremendous amount of progress since YIMBY’s November update. Designed by REX and developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with Davis Brody Bond Architects as the executive architect, the 138-foot-tall structure is situated immediately to the east of One World Trade Center.

Hotel Indigo Tops Out At 120 Water Street in the Financial District

Construction has topped out on 120 Water Street, a 28-story Hotel Indigo in the Financial District. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Atlas Hospitality, the slender reinforced concrete superstructure will yield 52,000 square feet with 128 hotel rooms managed by Fortuna Realty Group.

But Development Group Reveals Renderings For 831 Hart Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn

New renderings from Tan Architect offer a first look at a proposed residential building at 831 Hart Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Permit applications filed by But Development Group specify a four-story, 54-foot-tall building with seven rental units. The new renderings, however, appear to illustrate a five-story structure with roof-level outdoor space. The pale brick façade includes large floor-to-ceiling windows that facilitate the flow of natural light into each apartment.

Permits Filed for 2334-2336 Dean Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Located between Rockaway Avenue and Eastern Parkway, the adjacent lots are four blocks south of the Rockaway Avenue subway station, serviced by the A and C trains. Frontgate Management is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Installation Begins on Tin Building’s Ornamental Fixtures in Seaport District

Work on the reconstruction of the historic Tin Building is making swift progress in the South Street Seaport Distric t. Located on the rebuilt Pier 17 and next to the FDR Drive, the three-story steel-framed structure is being rebuilt 32 feet away from its original location and six feet higher above sea level. The 53,000-square-foot commercial project is designed by SHoP Architects and developed by the Howard Hughes Corporation, with Plaza Construction as the construction manager.

Construction Continues on Revamped Elizabeth H. Berger Plaza in the Financial District

The new and upgraded Elizabeth H. Berger Plaza is quickly taking shape in the Financial District. The project combines two underutilized concrete plazas and merges them together to form a singular green public space that measures about two-thirds of an acre. George Vellonakis is the landscape architect of the property, which sits on what used to be a neighborhood called Little Syria. The park is named after the late Downtown Alliance president Elizabeth Berger, who died in 2013.

Developers Pursue Zoning Amendments for Affordable Housing Block at 803 Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Proposals from the Bridge Rockaway Housing Development Fund Company reveal a new mixed-use housing development in the Brownsville section of eastern Brooklyn. The residential portion of the building would yield up to 124 affordable homes and 62 supportive housing units. The structure’s remaining footprint would house 39,000 square feet of light manufacturing space and 3,400 square feet for community facility space.

Exterior work is nearing completion on 77 Greenwich Street, a 42-story mixed-use residential skyscraper in the Financial District. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Trinity Place Holdings, the 500-foot-tall project will yield 90 condominiums ranging from one- to four-bedroom layouts with interiors designed by Deborah Berke Partners.

Starling Architecture Returns With New Renderings Of A Waterfront Venue In Brooklyn Bridge Park

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) will again review proposals to construct a new seasonal venue space on the Fulton Ferry Landing Pier in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The project was originally proposed at a hearing in April 2019, where LPC expressed concerns that the building would obstruct views of the surrounding historic waterfront and downtown Manhattan. The design team, led by Starling Architecture, was also asked to replace the white exterior elements with with brown and other dark colors.
