Two Manhattan West’s Steel Superstructure Tops Out in Midtown West, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on Two Manhattan West, a 935-foot-tall commercial skyscraper in Midtown West and number 13 on our year-end countdown. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 58-story tower will yield 2 million square feet of office space directly to the south of its 996-foot-tall fraternal twin, One Manhattan West. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is aiming for LEED Gold Certification and is located at the corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue.

601 West 29th Street Nears Completion in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Façade work is nearing completion on 601 West 29th Street, a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards and number 19 on our year-end construction countdown. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development, the 60-story structure is also known as “Tower A” in a two-building development alongside 606 West 30th Street, which has yet to begin rising over Midtown, Manhattan. 601 West 29th Street will yield 703 market-rate and 235 affordable housing residences, 50,000 square feet of amenity space, and 15,000 square feet of retail space. Levine Builders is constructing the property, which is bound by Eleventh Avenue to the east, West 29th Street to the south, and West 30th Street to the north.

The New Irish Arts Center Celebrates Grand Opening at 726 Eleventh Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen

A new cultural center celebrating Irish art, heritage, and performance has arrived in Hell’s Kitchen. Located at 726 Eleventh Avenue, the new Irish Arts Center is now open to the public following an intimate gathering of elected officials, community leaders, Irish delegates, and supporting patrons.

Permits Filed for 415 West 45th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building conversion from an existing two-story garage at 415 West 45th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, the interior lot is a short walk to the 42nd Street-Port Authority subway station, serviced by the A, C, and E trains. John Young of Emmut Properties Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.
