Pendry Hotel’s Wavy Curtain Wall Begins Assemblage at 4 Manhattan West in Midtown

Construction is moving along smoothly on the Pendry Hotel, aka 4 Manhattan West. The reinforced concrete superstructure of the 21-story Midtown West development has risen past the halfway mark, and installation of its distinctive wavy façade has begun on the northern and western elevations. The mixed-use project, which is designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, is slated to offer 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on its upper floors.

New renderings reveal the glossy, reimagined interiors of 554 Eighth Avenue, known today as 554 On the Eighth. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture for The Expansion Group, the renovation is specifically intended to attract tenants from the technology sector. The 21-story pre-war building is located on the southeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 38th Street and contains approximately 325,000 square feet of commercial area.

McSam Hotel Group Breaks Ground on a 200-Key Hotel at 223 West 46th Street in Midtown

Longtime collaborators McSam Hotel Group and Gene Kaufman Architects have once again paired up on a new hotel development in Midtown, Manhattan. Located at 223 West 46th Street, the project replaces a former parking lot. According to the architect, the building will rise at least 26 stories, although the rendering depicts a tower with 34 floors.

Excavation Commences for 531-Room Hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue, in Hudson Yards

Excavation has begun at the site of 450 Eleventh Avenue to clear the way for a new 531-room hotel from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The 487-foot-tall building will be designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Groups. The property is located across from the Jacob K. Javits Center between West 36th Street and West 37th Street.

The Pendry Hotel at 4 Manhattan West is rising fast in Midtown West. The 21-story development will offer 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the tower’s upper floors. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the building features a distinctive wavy façade on the northern and southern elevations, which is now visible in the reinforced concrete structure. The glass curtain wall will be installed later this year.
