New Renderings Revealed for 1,200-Foot PENN15 Supertall in Midtown, Manhattan

Fresh renderings by DBOX shed new light on PENN 15, a 56-story, 1,200-foot-tall commercial skyscraper at 15 Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, the 2.7 million-square-foot supertall will rise from the site of the Hotel Pennsylvania, which has been closed since early 2020 and is beginning the demolition process. The tower will be the tallest component in the 7.4-million-square-foot Penn District master plan, on a plot bound by Seventh Avenue to the west, West 32nd Street to the south, and West 33rd Street to the north.

PENN 2’s Re-cladding Progresses at Two Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan

Renovation work continues to progress on PENN 2, a 31-story commercial building at Two Penn Plaza in Midtown. Designed by MdeAS Architects and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, the project involves the replacement of the 53-year-old structure’s façade with a modern glass curtain wall. The 412-foot-tall, 1.61 million-square-foot tower was originally designed by Charles Luckman Associates and stands along Seventh Avenue between West 31st and 33rd Streets. PENN 2 is immediately to the east of Madison Square Garden and is one component within the Penn District revitalization scheme that calls for the construction and redevelopment of several buildings surrounding Penn Station in the coming years. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the project.

The 412-foot-tall, 1.61-million-square-foot tower was originally designed by Charles Luckman Associates and stands along Seventh Avenue between West 31st and 33rd Streets, immediately to the east of Madison Square Garden. YIMBY spotted a series of new and updated interior and exterior renderings by DBOX of Penn 15, a massive 1,270-foot supertall designed by Foster + Partners at 15 Penn Plaza. The mammoth 2.8 million-square-foot, 57-story office project is being developed by Vornado Realty Trust and is part of the much larger 7.4 million-square-foot Penn District master plan in Midtown, Manhattan. The redevelopment aims to transform and revitalize the area between Sixth and Seventh Avenues and West 32nd and West 34th Streets with a total of eight new buildings. All of which would surround the 109-year-old James A. Farley Building and Skidmore Owings & Merrill‘s newly opened Moynihan Train Hall, as well as One and Two Penn Plaza and Madison Square Garden, which itself has also seen grandiose proposals to be re-imagined.
