Landmarks Not Ready To Approve New Three-Family House At 348 Clermont Avenue, Fort Greene

A new residential building is probably coming to a vacant lot on Clermont Avenue, between Lafayette and Green avenues, in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Historic District. It just won’t be quite what was proposed to the Landmarks Preservation Commission on last Tuesday. The commission did not approve the plan for a three-family, four-story structure at its public hearing.

Two-Unit House Coming to 147 St. Felix Street, BAM Historic District

On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved construction of a new two-unit house at the corner of St. Felix Street and Hanson Place in the Brooklyn Academy of Music Historic District. The new construction at 147 St. Felix Street, a lot vacant since 1999, will rise three stories and will hopefully fare better than the site’s two previous occupants.

Four-Story Brownstone Being Converted To Preschool At 54 Greene Avenue, Fort Greene

Gan on Greene, a Jewish preschool organization, is currently converting the four-story building at 54 Greene Avenue, in Fort Greene, into a 45-seat school. According to Brownstoner, construction of the school is underway on the structure’s interior. The project will also include cleaning of the exterior. The program will include three classes and opening is scheduled for September of 2016.

Four-Story, Two-Unit Residential Project Filed At 39 South Elliott Place, Fort Greene

Ana Eskreis, head of Max Studio, has filed applications for a four-story, two-unit residential building at 39 South Elliott Place, in Fort Greene. That’s steps away from the G train’s Fulton Street stop and the C train’s Lafayette Avenue stop. The building will measure 2,472 square feet in total. Triplex units will span the cellar through second floors and a duplex will take up the upper two floors. The project is being designed in-house.
