The new glass curtain wall has begun installation on 660 Fifth Avenue, a 39-story commercial building in Midtown, Manhattan. Formerly addressed as 666 Fifth Avenue, the office tower is in the process of having its mid-century façade replaced with a modern envelope in a project designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties. The 1.5-million-square-foot property is located between West 52nd and 53rd Streets.

Work is moving along on the re-cladding of 660 Fifth Avenue, a 39-story commercial building in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties, the project involves the complete overhaul of the 64-year-old structure, which was originally designed by Carson & Lundin and formerly addressed as 666 Fifth Avenue, replacing its mid-century exterior with a modern glass enclosure. The 1.5-million-square-foot property is located between West 52nd and 53rd Streets.

New Renderings Reveal 39-Story Reclad of 660 Fifth Avenue, in Midtown

YIMBY has a new batch of renderings that depict a full re-cladding of the 39-story 660 Fifth Avenue, a commercial building located between West 52nd Street and West 53rd Street. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties, the $400 million project includes a 21st century facelift as well as the renovation of 1.5 million square feet of office space. Work is planned to commence once the ten remaining leases are completed and tenants vacate, some 12 to 18 months from now, as reported in a previous Wall Street Journal story.

Developers Propose 1,400-Foot-Tall Mixed-Use Tower At 666 Fifth Avenue Office Building, Midtown

Vornado Realty Corp. and Kushner Companies are proposing to redevelop the 41-story, 1.5-million square-foot commercial building at 666 Fifth Avenue, in Midtown between East 52nd and 53rd Streets, into a 1,400-foot-tall mixed-use tower. According to the New York Post, the building would include a significant retail podium, which will be topped by a slender tower featuring a hotel and residences. Zaha Hadid has been tasked to design, and Kushner owns a majority of the property, although Vornado currently owns the building’s retail condominium along Fifth Avenue, and Zara owns a separate retail portion.
