Quay Tower Sees Brooklyn’s First-Ever $20 Million Condominium Sale

Quay Tower is not like most of the new residential skyscrapers rising in Brooklyn. The project sits directly against the Brooklyn Heights waterfront, soaring 30 floors above the neighboring brownstone-filled streets, and features a glassy façade paired with brushed copper-hued metals that evoke the iron girders along Pier 6, nearby. Now, the building has now shattered a record for the entire borough, with its penthouse entering contract for $20 million, nearly $4 million over the previous record for a Brooklyn apartment set by actor Matt Damon.

Sidewalk to Park Conversion Dubbed “Canoe Plaza” Opens on 36th Street in Midtown Manhattan

In some good news, a space in Midtown overrun with cars is finally being given back to the pedestrians. Canoe plaza has officially opened, adding a green landscape to the formerly car-blighted lot. Shanti Nagel designed the avenue-long park on 36th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue. The development has occurred thanks to Quandrum Global, owner of the Arlo Hotel brand prominent throughout New York City.

Morris Adjmi-Designed 30 East 31st Street Reaches 479′ Pinnacle in NoMad, Manhattan

Construction of the 40-story tall and diagrid-tipped 30 East 31st Street has finally topped out in NoMad. It is now showing off its unique crisscross exterior influenced by surrounding Gothic architecture from the 1920’s and ‘30s. Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible of the design. Along with topping out, glass installation is nearing the peak. Installation of the metal paneling has not yet started.
