A mural now adorns the south facade of Willow House, the newly opened eight-story residential building at the intersection of 14th Street and Willow Avenue in Hoboken, New Jersey. Designed and executed by Ricardo Roig, the mural measures approximately 28 feet tall and 18 feet wide. The work depicts a Gatsby-inspired social scene, with musicians, diners, and guests gathered beneath string lights. It also incorporates views of the Manhattan skyline and the Hudson River.
Designed by MVMK Architects and developed by Advance Realty Investors, Willow House yields 52 rental units in configurations ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. The project includes approximately 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, occupied by Starbucks and CorePower Yoga.
Resident amenities at Willow House include a coworking lounge, fitness center, and a landscaped rooftop deck with views of the Manhattan skyline. A second-floor terrace features seating areas, fire pits, and grilling stations.
Roig created the mural using a hand-cut technique: he photographed the finished mixed-media artwork, digitally divided it into 60 grid sections of 36-by-36 inches each, had the grids printed and adhered to the façade, then hand-cut portions of each image with an X-Acto knife and spray-painted the exposed areas beneath. Roig opened the first Roig Collection gallery in Hoboken in 2015 and has displayed work at the W Hoboken Hotel.
The property is located at the intersection of 14th Street and Willow Avenue, a primary gateway into Hoboken’s North End. Willow House is part of Advance Realty’s broader North End development pipeline, which will ultimately yield approximately 1,500 new residential units, along with retail, dining, open space and community amenities.
