Housing Works has begun construction on a new supportive housing development at 2611 Pitkin Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Led by Bailey House, the organization’s housing development subsidiary, the eight-story project will yield 39 studio apartments. The project is Housing Works’ first independently developed project financed through the Nine Percent Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Construction on the property began in September 2024 and is expected to be completed by late September 2026. The property is located between Fountain Avenue and Logan Street.

The building will include 22 units designated for formerly homeless individuals under the city’s 15/15 supportive housing initiative, while the remaining 17 units will be income-restricted to households earning at or below 60 percent of the area median income (AMI). All residents will have access to on-site supportive services. The building is also adjacent to Housing Works’ Federally Qualified Health Center at 2640 Pitkin Avenue, which provides medical care.

Resident amenities will include a communal terrace and backyard green space. The development was made possible by merging three contiguous lots, two formerly used for low-density housing and a third acquired following the East New York rezoning.

  1. The concave is kinda weird. I think I would’ve skipped that. It’s not enough to look intentional, it just looks like the facade isn’t straight for some reason or is caving in or something.
