A guy I know lives in an “amenitized” Midtown building with huge areas built out for tenants to use, but most evenings the spaces sit empty. It would be interesting to know if this sales fad is truly worth the investment for developers. Perhaps one day, turning these spaces into more apartments will be the new fad.
150,000 square feet of amenities is a lot of space. But I do think nice lobby spaces, a library/reading room, garden, community living room/kitchen for parties and a pool/gym are all appropriate for larger developments. I suppose everything I mentioned might entail 5,000-10,000 square feet of space so this property is on an entirely different level.
I think Monogram in Midtown East and some of RAMSA’s developments have an appropriate amount of space for the number of units in those developments.
I love how the bedroom opens up into the middle of the living room. Will open bathrooms be next?
