Permits have been filed to expand a two-story structure into a five-story residential building at 32-02 31st Avenue in Astoria, Queens. Located between 32nd Street and 33rd Street, the lot is near the 30th Avenue subway station, served by the N and W trains. Jinjie Wu in Galaxy Astoria LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 50-foot-tall development will yield 7,442 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have ten residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 744 square feet. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar, a 24-foot-long side yard, and two open parking spaces.

Shiming Tam of SM Tam Architect, PLLC is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the project calls for a vertical expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. Is this development related to updated zoning from the city of yes? Wondering if it’s from the TOD development or town-center zoning.
