Permits have been filed to expand a one-story commercial structure into a six-story commercial and community facility building at 136-76 39th Avenue in Flushing, Queens. Located between Union Street and Main Street, the lot is steps from the Main Street subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Minsun Kim under the 106 Second Avenue LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 55-foot-tall development will yield 15,378 square feet, with 8,238 square feet designated for commercial space and 7,140 square feet for community facility space. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar. The building will include a cafeteria, office space, a school, and an ambulatory health facility.
Simon Lee of TL Engineering, PC is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the permit calls for an expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This building was always intended to be taller as evidenced by the steelwork. Three bus routes begin in front of this place and it is only a block or so from one of the 11 entrances to the Main St. #7 subway terminus.
StreetView shows the steelwork was added in 2014 when they first started planning an expansion.
