Construction has topped out on Mason, a six-story mixed-use building at 40-46 24th Street in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by MY Architect P.C. and developed by ZD Jasper Realty under the 23-17 41 Ave Development LLC, the 72-foot-tall structure will span 37,588 square feet and yield 42 condominium units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, as well as 7,551 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, and 21 enclosed parking spaces. Celtic Services NYC Inc. is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 23-17 41st Avenue and located at the corner of 41st Avenue and 24th Street.

Recent photos show the reinforced concrete superstructure built to its pinnacle with scaffolding and metal shoring aiding in the settling of the final stories. Façade installation has yet to commence.

The rendering in the main photo shows the building clad in a mix of beige brick and charcoal-hued paneling surrounding floor-to-ceiling windows with black mullions. Setbacks at the corners of the structure are topped with terraces lined with glass railings, and stacks of balconies are positioned across both the 24th Street and 41st Avenue elevations. The main entrance sits beneath a canopy at the center of the southeastern elevation facing 24th Street.

Mason’s former anticipated completion date was slated for March 2023, but YIMBY expects the project to finish construction sometime in the second half of 2024.

I have learned that the structure has not yet been installed façade, like a cement pillar under the expressway: Thanks.

It’s a decent design, but just way too much fishbowl glass. You’re either on display for the world, or live with drapes always drawn.

  3. This design style has infested Williamsburg and now the virus is spreading to Long Island City. It’s like Generic Bland. It feels like the building will be populated by Corporate Memphis characters
