Permits have been filed to expand a three-story structure into a four-story residential building at 557 Saint John’s Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Located between Classon and Franklin Avenues, the lot is near the Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains. Abraham Greenhut of Broadway Halsey Lofts LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 55-foot-tall development will yield 6,926 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have ten residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 692 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar, penthouse, and a 44-foot-long rear yard.

Lester Katz, NCARB is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the project calls for a vertical expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
