Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 227 West 19th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, the lot is near the 18th Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Robert Kaliner of Roundsquare Development LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 60-foot-tall development will yield 13,279 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have five residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 2,655 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and one enclosed parking space.
DXA Studio is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed last month for the two-story structure on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

any building in this part of manhattan should be like 30 stories tall and have more than five units. zoning here is ridiculous if this is all that could be built on this lot

Curious if when they list 60 feet tall, does that include elevator and mechanicals on the roof? Seeing these days that new ones like this have a two story maintenance tower/shaft on the roof.
Also how does one find permits? There’s the old antique store/garage at 247-249 that was sold with airspace and sold along with 251 next door. Trying to find out how tall it can go.

Even though proposed permits for 227-229 are for only six stories, how does that affect the windows at 225 West 19th that now look West?
