Excavation is now underway at 586 River Avenue, the site of a new Success Academy Charter School in the Concourse section of The Bronx. The six-story school will be minutes from Yankee Stadium and comprise around 300,000 square feet.

The development site is alternatively addressed as 101 East 150th Street.

The ground floor of the building will have classrooms, lecture halls, and a gymnasium. On the upper levels, there will be two separate cafeterias, multiple classroom floors, a conference room, a gymnasium, several outdoor terraces, a dance studio, and a nurse’s room.

When in full operation, the facility will serve 2,400 children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Success Academy currently operates eight schools in The Bronx and a total of 47 schools in New York City.

Success Academy purchased the property in 2022 for $105 million from MADDD Equities. Prior to demolition and rezoning for academic use, a two-story self-storage business occupied the assemblage.

The academy is expected to open in time for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Charter schools are a scam to take public school tax dollars and give them to for-profit private schools to further dumb down our children. Finland banned private schools and they now have the highest testing standards of most any country.

You obviously are not from here or not a parent.

      Charter schools are mostly nonprofits.

And most of all of them have higher standards than the district schools.

      Just look at the results.
