New York’s Regional Development Council has awarded $24 million to high-priority infrastructure and manufacturing projects across the state. Two of the 28 projects awarded are located in Queens and Long Island and represent roughly $895,000 of core capital grant and tax-credit funding from Empire State Development.

“These 28 shovel-ready projects represent incredible opportunities to foster economic growth, create jobs, and drive private investment across New York State,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul. “Thanks to the continued efforts and recommendations of the Regional Economic Development Councils, our REDC Initiative will continue to help communities meet pressing needs through strategic investments and robust state support.”

Magellan Aerospace New York, the local affiliate of multinational aerospace solutions company Magellan Aerospace, was awarded $295,000 to continue its investments in cutting-edge systems and assembly solutions for aircraft and engine manufacturers, and defense and space agencies. Based in Corona, Queens, the company has helped New York State retain its position as a leader in the global aerospace supply chain, and estimates the cost for this specific project at $1.5 million.

Unique Electric Solutions of Holbrook, Long Island, was awarded a $300,000 Empire State Development Grant and a $300,000 Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit. The awards will offset project costs to develop a first-of-its-kind battery pack welding line for commercial electric trucks, buses, and stationary battery programs. Total project costs are estimated at $3 million.

Additional awards will support manufacturing and infrastructure companies in Saratoga Springs, Auburn, Elmira, Western New York, and the Finger Lakes region. In Yonkers, Social Impact Content Film School won a $450,000 grant to remodel a portion of its campus and construct new learning facilities.

“Empowering regional stakeholders to take their knowledge and understanding of local priorities and assets to best direct state investments is a proven formula for success,” said Empire State Development president, CEO, and commissioner Hope Knight. “These shovel-ready projects will drive our economy forward and lead to growth and prosperity across the state.”
