Construction has broken ground at 50 Sussex Avenue, a forthcoming rental property in Downtown Newark, New Jersey. From developers Tona Development and KS Group, the 203-unit property will top out at 150 feet or 15 stories above ground.

Designed by INOA Architecture, a New York City-based studio led by architect Murat Mutlu, the massing of the structure features a rounded rectangular form with undulating exterior walls. The resulting voids and cantilevers create space for private residential terraces, available to a select few units.

The building’s collection of apartments will range from studios up to two-bedroom floor plans. Amenity spaces will include a fitness center, a resident lounge, a party room, and a communal terrace.

Additional components include around 2,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and a parking garage designed to accommodate 16 vehicles.

The development is expected to debut by the end of 2024.

    Streamline Moderne style ?

  3. Really too bad they couldnt acquire that dog on the corner. Now it’s guaranteed to remain. Drives me nuts when stuff like that happens.

    • is it a poodle? If you’re making a comment about the 2 story building on the right of the big image, dogs would be offended by your derogatory reference.

      • Well, I’m a cat person, so let me intervene…. What if we knocked down the poodle and made a small park/playground there…?

Lol why are ya’ll hating on it? What if it’s a bodega or something which is one of the most convenient things to be near a residential development or any development for that matter.

  4. Will affordable housing be provided for the residents of Newark meaning low income
