The affordable housing lottery has launched for 173 Johnson Avenue, a seven-story residential building in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Designed by ND Architecture & Design and developed by Watermark Capital, the structure yields 52 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 16 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $78,686 to $167,570.

Residences come equipped with large open layouts, name-brand appliances and finishes, and air conditioning. Amenities include a fully furnished rooftop, business center, fitness center, a yoga/dance studio, a shared laundry room, and pet-friendly policies. Tenants are responsible for electricity including stove, heat, and hot water.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there are four studios with a monthly rent of $2,295 for incomes ranging from $78,686 to $124,150; four one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,490 for incomes ranging from $85,372 to $139,620; and eight two-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $2,950 for incomes ranging from $101,143 to $167,570.

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 28, 2022.

  2. Stop calling this affordable housing! Affordable to only the upper middle class and upper class , not to the low income people it was supposed to be built for.
    This is INCOME BASED HOUSING not affordable. What a joke

  4. Wow that is a huge and very ugly project on a site that had enough FAR to do an excellent project. A building on this important site should sing but this one nearly farts, loud! I don’t don’t know why many of the people commenting on the projects on this site have such a low bar. I bet they don’t walk by the site very often.
