Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building that will hold a charter school as well as commercial and community facility space at 556 New Lots Avenue in East New York‘s New Lots neighborhood. Located at the intersection of Van Siclen Avenue and New Lots Avenue, the corner lot is two blocks from the Van Siclen Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains. Soly Bawabeh of Bermuda Realty is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 103-foot-tall development will yield 49,385 square feet, with 46,066 square feet designated for community facility space and 3,318 square feet for commercial space. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar but no accessory parking.

Jonathan Imani of IMC Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. a charter school literally right next to The Samaritan Village Van Siclen women shelter ?
    Do you think the parents of the school children know this? Talk about terrible planning.
    That should be an interesting development .
