Its amazing to this native New Yorker that privatly developed, high-density, quality housing is being built in the Bronx – this would have been a pipe dream even 10 years ago! It is projects like this (and not the mega-projects or luxury housing) that stand a fighting chance of dealing with the husing crisis AND improving the neighborhood.

  2. They actually fill these developments with the homeless. A good part of which are decent hard working people, but you also have the mentally ill, drug addicts, and for lack of a better term, low-lifes, who get apartments and destroy them. There is a reason some people are homeless. There was a nice development in Yonkers, forgot the name, that was built by the Hudson and offered its residents a private park. NYC made an agreement to rent a big chunk of the units and moved its homeless there. The place went to hell. From drug dealing and prostitution in the private park, to dog feces in the hallway, and people hanging around in front of the buildings smoking weed and drinking beer.
