Permits have been filed for a 19-story mixed-use building at 1169 River Avenue in Concourse, The Bronx. Located between McClellan Street and East 167th Street, the interior lot is steps away from the 167th Street subway station, serviced by the 4, B, and D trains. Christoper Lacovara of Community Access, a NYC supportive housing and social service non-profit for people with mental health concerns, is listed as the owner behind the applications. They currently have two other projects currently underway in the Bronx, one on Bruckner Boulevard and another on East 172nd Street.

The proposed 195-foot tall development will yield 242,726 square feet, with 100,097 square feet designated for community facilities, 74,118 square feet of residential space, and 20,582 square feet of commercial space. It will have 245 residences, with an average unit scope of 302 square feet apiece. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar, 30-foot long rear yard, and 55 enclosed parking spaces.

Ariel Aufgang of Aufgang Architects is responsible for the design.

Demolition permits have not been filed. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. Heed these words…. My only complaint is why so short? The future is so bright for the Bronx, in 15-20 years people will be saying I can’t believe 40 story towers weren’t built on such prime lots.

    • Still a lot of land available for redevelopment in the Bronx. Tons of single story commercials and parking lots like this one in really rail transit-rich locations. This development is going up in an R9A lot so it’s contextual and has a height limit, and I believe the elevated rail setback allows for a few more floors than usual.

  2. This will be very prominent in a neighborhood of 6-story buildings. So hope it’s good.
