The Ossining Children’s Center will soon develop a new, 27,000-square-foot building to house its entire operations under one roof. Founded in 1895, the nonprofit organization provides enrichment and recreation programs to young children in the surrounding community.

Located at 32 State Street in Ossining, Westchester, the new facility will rise three stories and include nine classrooms, five toddler and infant rooms, four outdoor play areas, staff administrative offices, flexible meeting and multipurpose areas, and a staff kitchen. The development also includes a 22-vehicle parking lot.

When completed, the organization is also expected to expand its childcare programming for low-income families.

“With a larger, fully equipped and centrally located building, we can attract and accommodate a broad range of families from the wider community,” said OCC Executive Director Howard Milbert. “This will not only improve our financial outlook but also strengthen our capabilities and diversity.”

KG&D Architects designed a “cottage-style” facade with a wrap-around porch to match the surrounding commercial office buildings in Ossining. Overall, the development will cost an estimated $16.8 million, which will largely be funded by the sale of two affiliated properties and charitable donations.
