New Renderings For High Line-Adjacent 515 West 29th Street, West Chelsea

New renderings are out for the 11-story condominium building rising at 515 West 29th Street, in West Chelsea. Singaporean-based SCDA Architects, led by Soo Chan, is responsible for the design, which incorporates a series of glass panels producing a rippling effect on the façade. They also bear a striking resemblance to an art piece by Marcel Duchamp, “Three Standard Stoppages,” a play on ideas of identity and form through measurement. This might be intentional, considering its location, with dozens of galleries and artist studios in the blocks that surround the project.

The 135-foot tall building will yield 36,880 square feet of space, with 1,700 square feet dedicated to commercial-retail use on the ground floor. 15 condominiums will be created above, averaging an expansive 2,300 square feet apiece. Tenants will have access to bicycle parking and building storage. Private outdoor terraces will be available for a duplex on the 7-8th floor, and on the rooftop of the top duplex.

Forum Absolute Capital Partners is responsible for the development. Unfortunately, it has had a recent setback. The Real Deal reported in mid-January that the contractor has sued previous developer Bauhouse for failing to pay $229,000 for construction fees. A conclusion to the dilemma has not yet been announced.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: In a place of prominent building in reality.

  2. I can’t imagine anyone who would want to take a bath next to a giant window.

  3. Liam. You Ain’t Hangin’ With The Right Crowd!
