Permits have been filed for a new building at the PS 129 Patricia Larkin School, located at 128-02 7th Avenue, in College Point, Queens. The proposal would be three stories tall, and located on the same campus, which takes up a whole city block. Whether it would be built at the expense of an existing structure or an open area is not yet clear.

The secluded College Point neighborhood is populated with working and middle-class families. Only five NYC bus lines service the entire area, while the closest subway station is the Main Street Station, the last stop for the 7 train. It is almost an hour’s walk away from the school. The New York City School Construction Authority is developing the project.

The structure will rise 61 feet, and yield 52,500 square feet. The building will include a cafeteria with capacity for 168 children, classrooms, and a library. Kenny & Khan Architects will be responsible for the design.

Demolition permits have not been filed, and an expected completion date has not been announced.
