Permits have been filed for a four-story building at the Rebekah Rehab and Extended Care Center. The site, 1118 Havemeyer Avenue, is on the north-west corner of the half-block owned by the rehabilitation, in the East Bronx. The 6 train is just seven blocks away, at the Castle Hill Avenue Subway station.

The 38-foot tall structure will create 34,250 square feet, raising the total square footage for the lot to 228,700 square feet. The project will bring 54 living quarters for the seniors, along with laundry rooms, wellness centers, recreation rooms, a kitchen, and a fourth-floor lounge. There will not be any new enclosed parking.

Geddis Architects will be responsible for the design, and Rebekah Rehab will be responsible for development.

The site had previously been occupied by a vacant two-story structure for several years. Demolition permits were filed late November of last year, which means construction is likely to start soon. The estimated completion date has not been announced.
