A 33-story, 179-unit mixed-use building has reached its peak at 520 West 30th Street. Construction officially topped off on August 18th, according to a spokesperson for the developer, Related Companies. Photos posted to the YIMBY forums by JC_Heights and Tectonic show that structure’s frame is being filled out and installation of the glassy facade appears about halfway complete.

When fully constructed, the 367-foot-tall building will encompass 315,586 square feet of total floor area, as indicated by Department of Buildings documents. The 179 units will total 223,747 square feet of residential space, which averages out to units of nearly 1,250 square feet. There will also be 13,219 square feet of commercial space for ground-floor retail.

Amenities will include a basketball court, a pool and pool deck, a bowling alley, outdoor terraces for residents, and a lounge with a “glam room.” Ismael Leyva Architects is behind the design.

Foundation work began last year, and the building had risen four stories when YIMBY checked in in April.

Completion is expected next year.

The building is steps from Related Companies’ 10 Hudson Yards, the first building of which opened its doors in May.

  1. One more ugly building. Doesn’t any thought go into designing all these monstrosities? Apparently not.

  2. The design is fine. This is far from terrible.

  3. Large structure completed on 33-story, and covering on glassy installation with soft tone.
