Construction Update: One World Trade Center

One World Trade Center’s antenna continues to rise, and a total of thirteen sections have now been installed, bringing the tower’s unofficial height to 1,626 feet. Four sections remain before the antenna’s completion, though its apex of 1,787 feet will likely not represent the tower’s ‘official’ height, whichper CTBUH standardsdoes not include “antennae, signage, flag poles or other functional-technical equipment.”

Progress is also visiblethe last update, for referenceon One World Trade Center’s base, where the southern facade is now complete. The shatter-proof glass covers up the chamfered edges that were supposed to define the tower’s lower levels, removing another aspect of the building’s intended character. Despite the design change, the final product doesn’t look horrible, just discordant with One World Trade’s upper floors.
