Demolition Complete for 1,264-Foot Supertall At 625 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

At number two on our annual countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York is 625 Madison Avenue, a planned 1,264-foot supertall residential skyscraper in Midtown East, Manhattan. Developed by Related Companies under the 625 Mad Realty LLC, the 66-story structure is slated to span 496,000 square feet and yield 101 condominium units with an average scope of 4,918 square feet. The project will also include nearly 75,000 square feet of retail space on the first two levels, a fourth-floor restaurant and private dining area, and a suite of amenities. The multi-billion-dollar project will rise on the east side of Madison Avenue between East 58th and 59th Streets.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by BXP, the 49-story structure will yield 950,000 square feet of office space and a collection of tenant amenities. The property is located between East 44th and 45th Streets.

JPMorgan Chase officials on Tuesday held a ribbon cutting to mark the official completion of the company’s 1,389-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 60-story skyscraper yields 2.5 million square feet of office space with a capacity of 14,000 employees, and is the tallest structure in New York completely powered by upstate hydroelectric energy. Adamson Associates was the architect of record, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed eight expansive trading floors spanning 500,000 square feet that can accommodate 4,000 traders, and Gensler was the workplace designer for the $3 billion project, which occupies a full city block bounded by East 48th Street to the north, East 47th Street to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Madison Avenue to the west.

Construction is nearing completion on The Malabar Residences, a 28-story residential tower located at 126 East 57th Street on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown East, Manhattan. Designed by ODA Architecture and developed by MRR Development, the 346-foot-tall structure will yield 175,000 square feet with 147 condominium units in studio- to three-bedroom layouts averaging 1,156 square feet, as well as 5,000 square feet of lower-level retail space, and accompanying amenities. The property is located at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue with a narrow panhandle extension to East 57th Street.
