A proposal has been submitted for review by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) to modify two adjoining buildings located at 112 and 113 South Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. The application seeks approval to add dormer windows to the front and rear roof slopes of both buildings. As documented by submitted materials, the project intends to expand habitable attic space within the existing structures. Each building currently stands four stories tall with an attic and includes three residential units and one commercial unit. The properties are located between Peck Slip and Beekman Street.

Public Art Mural Debuts At 77 Water Street Construction Site In Financial District, Manhattan

ArtBridge and the Downtown Alliance have unveiled the first mural resulting from a new public art initiative aimed at enhancing construction sites across Lower Manhattan. The installation wraps around all four sides of 77 Water Street, a 26-story tower currently undergoing an office-to-residential conversion led by Vanbarton Group in the Financial District. The artwork, titled I See The Sky From The Other Side, was designed by award-winning artist Eirini Linardaki and spans 700 linear feet of construction fencing at the property, which is bounded by Gouverneur Lane, Old Slip, and Front Street.

At number 12 on our year-end countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York is Link Apartments 8 Carlisle, a 789-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 8 Carlisle Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Grubb Properties and Pink Stone Capital, the 64-story structure will span 326,221 square feet and yield 462 residential units. The project will also include 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a 60-foot-long rear yard. The property is alternately addressed as 111 Washington Street and located at the corner of Washington and Carlisle Streets, just south of the World Trade Center complex.

Developer Selected For 3,700-Unit Mixed-Income Development at 100 Gold Street in Financial District, Manhattan

GFP Real Estate has been selected to redevelop the city-owned site at 100 Gold Street into a large-scale mixed-income residential development in Manhattan’s Financial District. The new property will contain approximately 3,700 housing units, with at least 25 percent planned to be permanently affordable. The project is part of Mayor Eric Adams’ “Manhattan Plan,” which aims to create 100,000 new homes in the borough over the next decade.
