Excavation Work Imminent At 80 Essex Street, Site of 24-Story, 195-Unit Mixed-Use Building On LES

At the beginning of the year, YIMBY revealed the first few buildings in the Essex Crossing development on the Lower East Side, including the 24-story, 195-unit mixed-use building planned at 115 Delancey Street/80 Essex Street. In the spring, demolition was underway to remove the old Essex Street Market building, and now excavation appears imminent, per Bowery Boogie. Handel Architects is designing, and a Regal movie theater, the Essex Street Market, and an urban farm will occupy the building’s base. Completion is expected in 2018.


242 Broome Street

Excavation Begins On 14-Story, 50-Unit Mixed-Use Building At 242 Broome Street, Lower East Side

Earlier this year, YIMBY revealed renderings for the first phase of Essex Crossing, a multi-site mixed-use project on the Lower East Side being developed by L+M Development, Taconic Investment and BFC Partners. Bowery Boogie now reports excavation has begun on the first building, located at 242 Broome Street, where a SHoP-designed 14-story, 55-unit mixed-use building is planned. Splitsville Lanes will occupy the basement, and other retail space is also expected on the ground floor.


Empire Outlets

Developers Break Ground on Empire Outlets Mixed-Use Project in St. George

DNAinfo reports BFC Partners have broken ground this week on Empire Outlets, a 100-store mall at 35 Richmond Terrace, in St. George. The development will also include an 11-story, 190-unit mixed-use hotel and residential building, and the entire project will total 443,000 square feet. DNAinfo also broke news of the mall’s most recently signed tenants; Applebee’s, Gap, and White House Black Market will together take 100,000 square feet, joining H&M and Nordstrom Rack.
