Permits have been filed for a 22-story affordable housing building at 148–15 Archer Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Located at the intersection of 149th Street and Archer Avenue, the lot is near the Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport subway station, served by the E, J, and Z trains. Larry Grubler of Building 163 SC HDFC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 238-foot-tall development will yield 92,127 square feet, with 38,878 square feet designated for residential space and 53,249 square feet for community facility space. The building will have 127 residences, comprised of 77 supportive housing units and 50 Class A apartments. The concrete-based structure will also have a 44-foot-long rear yard, 30 bicycle parking spaces, and rooftop terraces on the second, fourth, and 13th floors.
Amie Gross Architects is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits have not been filed yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

This architect does interesting work, but some verging on tacky. Hoping for the best here. The quality and variety of architecture of Jamaica’s new developments desperately needs to be raised a few notches.
