DOB Digest: Four-Story Building Being Constructed at Cornell Tech Campus, More

MANHATTAN:

1 Main Street: Located at 1 Main Street, on Roosevelt Island, the NYC EDC has been filing applications for the construction of a four-story, nearly 120,000 square-foot community facility and commercial building, associated with Cornell’s new Tech Campus. Morphosis is listed as the architect of record, and Handel is designing.

BROOKLYN:

701 Lafayette Avenue: Applications have been filed for a four-story, eight-unit residential building of 5,849 square feet at 701 Lafayette Avenue, in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Pirooz Soltanizadeh, of Royal Engineering, is designing, and the existing two-story townhouse was approved for demolition in November.

QUEENS:

42-14 Crescent Street: Meadow Partners have filed SOE applications ahead of their planned 13-story, 45-unit mixed-use building of nearly 39,900 square feet to span 42-14 – 42-18 Crescent Street, in Long Island City. Demolition recently began on the existing two-story structure, per DOB notifications, and completion is expected by the end of 2015.

51-43 Simonson Street: Applications have been filed for a four-story, four-unit residential building of 3,538 square feet at 51-43 Simonson Street, in Elmhurst. Li Architect Associate is designing, and an existing two-story structure must first be demolished.

STATEN ISLAND:

227 Weed Avenue: 4053-57 Realty has filed applications for two three-story, single-family abodes — each of 1,500 square feet — spanning 227-229 Weed Avenue, in Oakwood. The site’s single-story predecessor had been demolished in 2013.
