Construction is nearing completion on Tru by Hilton, a five-story hotel at 529 President Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Raymond Chan Architects and developed by RJ Hospitality LLC, the 60-foot-tall structure will span 31,100 square feet and yield 101 guest rooms, a 9,100-square-foot cellar level, and 6,269 square feet of parking space for 21 vehicles. President St. LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior rectangular parcel between 3rd and 4th Avenues.

Recent photographs show the façade largely completed from floors two through five, with only the ground floor awaiting completion behind sidewalk fencing. Sections of the first story are enclosed in red and beige brick, and some of the floor-to-ceiling windows are installed around the eastern half. The rest of the envelope consists of gray metal paneling and a mix of red and and gray metal bars and angled louvers between the grid of windows. Glass railings line the edge of the fifth-floor roof terrace, which is shown wrapping around to the rear northern end of the property in elevation drawings from the permit filing.

Hotel amenities will include a business center, a 24-hour market, a fitness center, and a game room. The nearest subway is the R train at the Union Street station along 4th Avenue.

A completion date of summer 2023 is posted on the construction board, though YIMBY anticipates the revised date to be sometime this winter or next spring at the very latest.

  1. FYI
This building has a Hilton Suites Hotel right next door to the right and a homeless shelter to the left for older single men.

  2. and of course just what we need to bring more pollution and traffic to an already congested area of Brooklyn
6,269 square feet of parking space for 21 vehicles.

    • Yeah1 Totally! Build Nothing Nowhere Ever! Woo-hoo!

I don’t know if you live in Brooklyn but I do and the last thing we need here is
6,269 square feet of parking space for 21 vehicles to create more pollution and congestion

      • There used to be factories and distribution centers in this area, correct? So the daily traffic today and in the future will still be a far cry from when thousands of people commuted in each day and trucks pulled in and out with raw material and finished goods.

It’s actually kind of an interesting design. And we’re going to need more hotels if the City is truly serious about regulating airbnbs.
There should be a tenant snitch website to report known airbnb apartments in their building.
