Rents along Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights are heating up fast, and new residential construction is finally starting to catch up. YIMBY discovered this rendering on the fence at 730 Franklin Avenue, where a six-story apartment building is in the works.
Last fall, YIMBY revealed four new brick townhouses at 127-131 South 1st Street in Williamsburg, and now excavation has begun at the site between Berry Street and Bedford Avenue.
Developer Mayer Meisels has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential building at 1546 52nd Street, in central Borough Park. The building will measure 8,815 square feet, and Kenneth Thomas is designing. The existing three-story building formerly housed three apartments, and demolition permits have yet to be filed for the structure.
Last week brought Queens applications for three more two-family building projects, further steadying the stream of small scale housing development in the relatively suburban outer borough. Small projects like these haven’t been a popular form of new housing since the mid-2000’s, but they are penciling out for local developers post recession.
Mayer Meisels has filed applications for two residential buildings, each rising four stories, at 1557 45th Street in eastern Borough Park. The townhouses will have four apartments each, and the development’s eight total units will spread across 11,160 square feet. Kenneth Thomas is designing, and an existing two-story, two-unit building must first be demolished.
