141 East Houston Street’s Glass Façade Revealed from Scaffolding on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Exterior work is nearing completion on 141 East Houston Street, a ten-story mixed-use building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Roger Ferris + Partners for East End Capital and K Property Group, the 68,000-square-foot structure will yield offices and retail space on the ground floor and two cellar levels. CM & Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Forsyth Street to the west and Eldridge Street to the east on a plot formerly occupied by the Sunshine Cinema.

139 Bowery Stands Topped Out on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Construction has topped out on 139 Bowery, a 14-story mixed-use building in the Bowery section of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Raymond Chan Architects and developed by Global Joint Venture, the structure will yield 16 residential units, ground-floor retail space, a 550-square-foot medical facility, and commercial office space spanning floors two through five. Mandarin Enterprises is the general contractor for the building, which is located between Broome and Grand Streets.

550 Madison Avenue Officially Unveils New Lobby in Midtown East, Manhattan

YIMBY attended the recent unveiling of the newly renovated lobby of 550 Madison Avenue, a 37-story, 684-foot-tall office skyscraper in Midtown East. Designed by Gensler and developed by The Olayan Group and RXR Realty, the project involves a 21,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor overhaul of the 1984 postmodern landmark from Philip Johnson and John Burgee. In addition to the updated lobby, which features an art installation from Polish-German contemporary visual artist Alicja Kwade called Solid Sky, the undertaking will also provide a new café, elevated and ground-level landscaping, expanded seating with additional tables, and public restrooms. 550 Madison Avenue spans between East 55th and 56th Streets.

270 Park Avenue’s First Office Levels Begin Formation in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction has reached the first office levels of JP Morgan Chase‘s new 1,388-foot supertall headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Steel assembly on the gargantuan ground floor has reached the eastern end of the rectangular parcel, while the rest of the flaring diagonal columns complete the outline of the base. This week, workers began to weld the first set of vertical columns and diagonal beams above the ground floor, which will become trading floors in the first tier of floor plates in the 2.5-million-square-foot behemoth. Tishman Construction is the general contractor for the project, located between Park and Madison Avenues and 47th and 48th Streets.
